Majestic Realty Co. Chairman and CEO Edward P. Roski, Jr. Honored by the Salvation Army for Ongoing Philanthropic Commitment

LOS ANGELES, CA (Dec. 8, 2008)— Recognized for his ongoing commitment to philanthropy Edward P. Roski, Jr., chairman and CEO of Majestic Realty Co., was honored recently at the Salvation Army’s Annual “Kettle Kickoff,” which celebrates the Salvation Army’s official start of the holiday fundraising season.

The evening was filled with performances from the Salvation Army Band and the Pasadena Tabernacle Children’s Choir.  Local celebrities including Buzz Aldrin, Phil Jackson, and Shirley Jones joined the celebration to lend their support to the volunteer bell-ringers that will encourage others to contribute to local families in-need.

Major Victor Leslie, divisional commander of the Southern California Division of the Salvation Army offered special recognition by presenting Roski with a Lifetime Achievement Award honoring his sustained commitment to philanthropy.  Jackson, championship winning coach of the Los Angeles Lakers introduced Roski as one of the treasures of Los Angeles and credited Roski for his vision for STAPLES Center and his role in the rejuvenation of downtown.  A long-term resident of Los Angeles, Roski co-developed STAPLES Center and is a co-owner of the Los Angeles Kings and the Los Angeles Lakers.  Roski takes an active role in civic, educational and cultural activities in the region and beyond as the current chairman of the board of trustees at the University of Southern California and through his service on the boards of the National Geographic Society, the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, the California Science Center, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Commission, and Loyola High School.  Additionally, the Majestic Realty Foundation presents more than 300 grants annually to local nonprofit organizations in the communities where Majestic Realty Co. does business.
