A 1.2-million-square-foot distribution center in Kenosha County has gained village of Pleasant Prairie’s approval, but California developer Majestic Realty Co. has not yet lined up tenants or set a timeline to start construction.

The project is Majestic’s first in the Milwaukee or Chicago area and the latest of several distribution centers planned in Pleasant Prairie. Majestic is seeking companies to lease the building, and plans to have all needed government approvals to build the center by June, said vice president Josh Wheeler.

“Although we have not established a specific date for groundbreaking, we’re continuing to evaluate a variety of development options and end users that will come into focus as these additional development steps are accomplished,” he said.

The center is planned on vacant land north of LakeView Corporate Park on a site east of Highway H and south of Highway 50. Majestic in October paid $5.5 million to buy the 88-acre development site from Milwaukee-based Wispark LLC. The development was first unveiled in August 2012, and Majestic has been lining up the necessary approvals since then.

Pleasant Prairie’s Plan Commission on May 13 signed off on the site and operation plans for the building. Majestic agreed to pay for local road improvements for the new truck traffic the facility will generate. Village officials anticipate a late summer construction start on the project.
