Crayola has officially started occupying an 800,000 square-foot distribution center in the Majestic Bethlehem Center near Route 412 and I-78.

Built by Majestic Realty Co., the Crayola Majestic Bethlehem Warehouse will consolidate the company’s current warehouse operations in Harrisburg and several other locations.

The company will fully exit the Harrisburg site once the lease expires in April. Crayola plans to transfer products and operations to the new Bethlehem facility this month, start shipping products to customers in January and begin full operations in March.

The company will transfer about 15 employees from the Harrisburg site, and the new facility will employ up to 70 workers.

Merchandising, shipping and receiving will now all be under one roof. Peter Ruggiero, executive vice president of global operations for Crayola LLC, said Crayola selected the site mainly for its proximity to rail service, citing it would save about 100,000 gallons of diesel fuel per year and considerable time spent shipping products.
