Roski's Remarks

Over the last 100 years, we have completely redefined the sense of community across our nation. An extraordinary wealth of technological advances have broadened our minds – and our worlds.

From the first cars in the early 1900's and powered flight in 1903 to the first computer in 1945 and the Internet in 1973; these things have all worked to bring us incredible new opportunities.

And yet they have contributed to the disintegration of one very important societal structure. The "community".

One of the biggest challenges facing our society today is how to embrace these tremendous new inventions – and yet protect a genuine sense of "community" in our cities.

How do you bring together people and get them to work and live as one? How do you respect the private lives of individuals, while enhancing a public culture? How do you capture the essence of the people in their community buildings and governmental policies?

Often times, in the day-to-day minutia of our business responsibilities, we lose perspective of the enormous impact our work has on individuals, on communities – and on our world.

As members of the real estate community, this is our challenge—

We must protect our communities.
We must strengthen their foundation.
We must ensure that the decisions we make are in the best interest of our urban families.

How does one achieve this?

We need to be respectful of our obligation. We need to consider our impact. And we need to make responsible, moral and ethical decisions in every business transaction. In the end, these collective decisions will make our communities strong.

It is said, "True art is the mirror of one's soul."
